Day - 16, Muhl to Bascharage

I seem to be apologising a lot recently for you having double posts. That's purely down to the wifi situation at the last couple of establishments, so you'll need to read Day 15 before this one.

Today was all about motorways, as we had about 300 miles to cover. We woke up to what would best be described as a fresh morning. Halfway down the stairs to brekkie, we could tell the front door was open.

Brekkie dispatched, it was time to hit the road, though at 10 degrees, not before my microfleece and gilet went on under my jacket. The heated grips went on too. It was definitely one of the cooler days of the trip and didn't really get above 20 degrees all day. I was never in danger of overheating, let's put it that way.

Our first stop was for fuel, after a couple of hours or so. we could have had a coffee but neither of us was bothered, so planned a stop a little later. A lot later than I had anticipated I saw the golden arches and we pulled off for a late lunch. We had one more stop, a second for fuel, this time in Luxembourg and only 500m from our hotel.

Earlier in the day Phil had said he thought he might have stayed at the hotel before. Soon as we pulled up, he confirmed it was where he'd stayed before. It's a far cry from the place we stayed at last night, this one being on quite a busy main road, though the double glazing does a great job of shutting the noise out.

With seemingly little in the way of places to eat, we settled on the hotel restaurant, though Phil said reviews weren't that great. Not sure why, the place was very busy, the food looked and tasted good, and the portions were very generous. Gordon Ramsey would have a fit, they were giving people silver trays and pizza boxes to take food home! I had a pizza. It was nice but not as good as the one we had in Piacenza.

After dinner we had a little walk up the road and back. There's not much to see really apart from the brewery, which just doesn't have the same style as the Forst brewery I passed yesterday.

Tonight is our last night and tomorrow night I will be in my own bed, listening to someone else snoring! (Big kiss babe. X)  There's 2 stops to make, one at Charles DeVall's grave at La Chapelle-d'Armentières and the other for fuel. If we have time, there may be a trip to Auchan to get some sweeties and beers.

Till tomorrow then.
